Concrete Value

Updated: 4 days ago

The world measures the value of a life by the benefit it brings to others.

This is made evident by the murdering of the unborn, the neglect of the poor, and the recent push to murder those that the world deems not beneficial to society.

A recent study in Iceland shows that "close to 100 percent of mothers who received a positive test for Down syndrome terminated their pregnancy." Dr. Olafsdotir from Iceland responded with these statements when questioned about the murders.

Dr. Olafsdottir tells women wrestling with the decision or guilt: "This is your life — you have the right to choose how your life will look like." When pressed harder she responded, "We don't look at abortion as a murder. We look at it as a thing that we ended. We ended a possible life that may have had a huge complication...preventing suffering for the child and for the family. And I think that is more right than seeing it as a murder -- that's so black and white. Life isn't black and white. Life is grey."

The Dr. makes the case that it is better to have never lived than to have lived and suffered or to have lived and caused others to suffer.

The phrase "this is your life--- you have the right to choose how your life will look like" sounds freeing and almost American, but it is simply camouflage that hides a genocide of an entire people group and an ideology that is aimed at destroying life.

Followers of Jesus MUST reject this ideology. The Bible teaches that all of humanity was made in the image of God. Therefore, we are endowed with inherent value. This means, our value is detached from every skill, resource, ability, or disability we may have. This places us all on a level playing field. Rich, poor, strong, and weak are not indications of our value but merely adjectives describing an aspect of our life.

Without God, babies are murdered because they are inconvenient. With God, the standard of love sits outside of convenience, causing all life to be cherished and protected.

Without God- the poor, the sick, and the disabled do not matter. Well, without God, you don't matter and you're just one accident away from becoming a burden to the people around you thus losing all value. With God- Your value is an unchangeable gift anchored in the finished work of the cross.

The world says those who suffer or cause suffering deserve to die. God says He chose suffering so that you can live.

Life, like our value, is black and white. Regardless of the status of your health, wealth, or social class, YOU HAVE VALUE.
